The city of Santa Ana, in Costa Rica, promotes digital transformation and innovation in public administration. One of its main initiatives is the introduction of a platform for all the citizens, to access administrative services in a simple and fast way.

With username and password, every citizen can access the platform and connect with administrations, taking advantage of a public service available 24/7. All procedures have been digitalized and documents are stored online, so that the user can read or download them anytime he wants.

The city of Santa Ana was rewarded for this initiative with the “Bandera Azul Ecológica”, an award for organizations that help to preserve the environment with sustainable practices.

Santa Ana decided to confirm its committment promoting innovation in public administration and asked Bit4id to improve security in its platform.

Two solutions by Bit4id were implemented in the platform: SignBox, to sign documents with Santa Ana Electronic Stamp, and 4identity, to integrate electronic signature on web platforms.

The implementation of Bit4id solutions ensures maximum security (thanks to the authentication with digital certificate on the web platform) and full transparency during administrative procedures. It also made the whole signing process much more faster because it occurs directly on Santa Ana web platform and there is no need to download the document or to use external tools.

With SignBox and 4identity, using the platform is faster and easier, both for citizens and public servants. Alexander Rojas, IT Director in the city of Santa Ana, commented: “I strongly recommend Bit4id solutions to implement electronic signature in public administrations. These solutions are very adaptable and user-friendly”.
