One year ago, in July 2016, in Bit4id there was an internal reorganization that led to the subdivision of the company in different production areas, to satisfy the needs of a market which requires more and more focusing and responsiveness.

One of the new Business Units created is Smarthealth, highly oriented towards a specific market, the health market. The Unit has been created with the aim to employ technologies and products always used in Bit4id, but adjusting them to the specific needs of the public health system.

Consisting of a full team of R&D, delivery and commercial area, during the first six months of activity the Smarthealth group has been busy most of all in the reinforcement of the company’s assets, focusing on previous orders and acquired clients and, as already said, improving the existing products to the new target.

The Business Unit has also taken part in two important events, Simeu (Naples) and Medica 2016 (Düsseldorf), both specifically in the healthcare field and not strictly about informatics as those usually attended by the company. Starting this path in the “health language”, also traditional products as the SmartSEC SSO and the SmartLOG system have been reconsidered for their new function.

In March 2017 there is the turning point: the Business Unit can count on an expert in the field, a doctor with significant professional experience, who enhances the group with notions and details about healthcare entering in the processes and internal flows of hospital structures.

Other important factor was the commitment of the unit manager Roberto Capocchiano, who involved in this path not only the retail clerks, marketing and delivery, but also the R&D, putting everyone into the foreground and underlining the central role that the client has in the company processes.

This new organisation provoked a strong enthusiasm which led to the realization of the prototype Bledge, an evolved corporate pass, of Farmacom, product for the pharmaceutical suppliers, and SSD Triage, a decision support system for the process of colour assignation in the first aid.

This last product represents, concretely, the new Smarthealth mission: developing products with high innovative and technological value entering in the healthcare processes. From a technical point of view this means also introducing new artificial intelligence systems (expert systems), more attention to the user interfaces, app development.

For this reason the Business Unit decided to change its identity, leaving the original name ‘smart’ which strongly represents the IT origins and choosing Health as permanent name of the Bit4id area concerning healthcare.

The mission of Bit4id Health is participating, through products and innovative solutions, in the Italian, Spanish and European healthcare evolution paying attention to the citizens’ needs and controlling the costs of the regional and national health expense.
