Bit4id’s electronic signature stood out for its interoperability during the event dedicated to companies operating in the digital signature sector

ETSI Plugtests is the annual event that companies from all over Europe join to test the interoperability of their solutions. eIDAS has established that in Europe all qualified electronic signatures are equal: this means that a signature realized with a certificate issued in a member country must have the same legal effects in all others and the verification of a signed document must return the same result regardless of the country in which it is carried out. For this reason ETSI (International Body that defines the formats and technical rules for electronic signatures) periodically organizes the Plugtests, an important opportunity for interoperability and mutual recognition of signatures at the community level.

Bit4id took part in the 2019 edition to to guarantee the widest interoperability of its electronic signature and validation engine.

Tests and results

Bit4id presented its digitally signed files with the following types of signature: PAdES, CAdES, XAdES type BES; PAdES, CAdES, XAdES type T; PAdES, CAdES, XAdES type LT/LTA. All the processes of signing, uploading documents to ETSI servers, verifying signatures uploaded by other companies, have been managed by Antonio Ciccarelli, Software & Testing Engineer of Bit4id.

The other participating companies have tested Bit4id digital signatures in their systems and sent a report, at the end of the checks, with the results of the tests carried out. Receiving feedback from other participants is important because it allows a company to find and correct any errors. Bit4id has achieved particularly positive results: the files signed with Bit4id digital certificates have been validated and correctly verified by the participating companies, proving the full interoperability of the systems used.

ETSI Plugtests have confirmed the high efficiency of Bit4id’s signature engine, used in the company’s signature services firma4ng, the professional digital signature application that allows the signing and verification of any type of electronic document, and Signing Today, the service created to fully manage all the business processes that involve the signing of legal documents, which is internationally recognized as the platform that enables the Digital Transformation.
